Chrome extension
The Know Your Building extension runs on supported rental listing sites. When you view a listing, it reads the street address of that listing from the page. If the address is in New York City, it sends only that address to knowyourbuilding.nyc to look up the building's concern level, and shows the result on the page.
The extension does not collect your browsing history, the other contents of pages you visit, your name, email, location or any account details. It does not use cookies, analytics or ads, and does not sell or share data with anyone.
It stores two things in your own browser: whether you minimized the card, and the results of recent lookups for the current browser session, so the same building isn't fetched twice. Removing the extension deletes both.
Our server receives the address you looked up and standard request details (such as IP address and browser type) that any website receives. We use them only to answer the request and keep the service running.
Website
knowyourbuilding.nyc shows NYC public records about buildings. The addresses you search are used to look up those records. The site uses Google Analytics and Google Ads to measure traffic, and Google AdSense to show ads, which may set cookies. You can manage Google's ad settings at adssettings.google.com.
